"For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory."2 Corinthians 1:20

This Advent, like all Advent seasons, we join other believers from all over the globe in anticipation of the arrival of Christ. Advent is a season of reflection and expectation of the coming Messiah. It is a long-celebrated tradition of the Christian church, where God’s people have year after year purposefully postured their hearts and minds to move beyond the shadow of the holiday season, to experience the true substance in Jesus Christ.

‘Advent’ derives from the Latin word adventus, which means coming or arrival. As we approach the Advent season, we are intentional to enter into a time of longing, joining the ancient angst of Israel awaiting her Liberating King. The intention of this month is to deepen our remembrance of the long awaited arrival of Immanuel (God with us) through the birth of Jesus Christ. As we slow down to reflect, our prayer is that God would broaden our range of biblical emotions; such as awe, yearning, grief, sorrow, joy, etc. As we reflect on Christ’s first coming, it serves to intensify our longing for his second coming.
